Jacksonville DUI and Criminal Defense
If you have been arrested in Jacksonville or surrounding counties, this will have a serious impact on your future. Please make sure you understand all your options before your make a decision to enter a plea. Too many times, clients come to us after they have entered a plea to a criminal case at first appearance and now realize they may have defenses. We see a lot of examples in DUI cases and Domestic Battery cases, where a person enters a plea, just to get out of jail. Both DUI and Domestic Battery carry very severe consequences in Florida, and neither of them can be sealed or expunged. When you enter a plea to a criminal case (possession of cannabis, petit theft, burglary, DUI, reckless driving, fake id to name a few), you are giving up certain rights, but most importantly you may be subjecting yourself to a mandatory conviction, without realizing it. Under Florida law, there are very limited circumstances, when a plea can be withdrawn. We urge you to speak with an attorney before making any decisions about your criminal, DUI or traffic ticket case.
DUI is a very serious offense in Jacksonville and the surrounding areas. Unlike Miami, Jacksonville does not have a program for first time DUI offenders, so every case must be carefully evaluated to review every possible area to avoid a conviction for Driving Under the Influence. There are a variety of defenses that could be brought up by a criminal attorney on your behalf. If you have been arrested for a DUI in Jacksonville, Duval County, Clay County, Nassau County, St. Johns County, or Atlantic Beach, call our office to make sure you understand your options, your rights, and what to do next. Do not just plea at first appearance!
Jacksonville Traffic Ticket Lawyer
Traffic ticket attorney, Kate Mesic, helps clients with all traffic related problems, both criminal and civil. Civil traffic tickets are those that are civil in nature, such as speeding or careless driving. If you ignore that traffic ticket, or just pay it, you may receive points, or worse end up with a suspended driver license. Please do not just pay your traffic ticket, call our office, we can help you understand your options. Remember, paying your traffic ticket, equals admission of guilt, and you will automatically get points. You have several options to avoid those points. The first is traffic school (1 time per year, and 5 times in a lifetime). If you have a CDL driver license, you cannot take traffic school to avoid points. The second is to have our traffic ticket attorney schedule a hearing on your behalf and provide mitigation and argue to the court, and have points withheld. The other option is for you to schedule that hearing yourself and appear in front of the court.
Call our office to have traffic ticket attorney Kate Mesic evaluate your case and explain your options. We can usually resolve your traffic ticket problem in one hearing, for which you don’t need to appear. If you want to get your traffic ticket dismissed, we will need to schedule it for a trial.
If your Florida driver license is suspended or you received notice that you are a Habitual Traffic Offender (HTO), please know that if you drive and are pulled over, you will be charged with a criminal offense. If you already received a ticket for DWLSR or HTO, call our Jacksonville Traffic Ticket Lawyer to see if you can get your driver license back. Remember three (3) Driving on License Suspended Tickets, even if they are civil, meaning “unknowingly” will result in an HTO (habitual traffic offender) status and will suspend your driver license for 5 years.
